How I put each guide together

• Real weather first. Every outfit guide starts with average temperatures, rainfall and daylight for that month, so the advice fits the trip you are actually taking.
• Local style and dress codes. Churches with cover-up rules, cobblestone streets, dinner dress codes on cruises: I flag them before you pack.
• Carry-on first. Packing lists are built to fit a carry-on, with pieces that mix and match.
• Kept up to date. Seasonal guides are reviewed before each season so prices, rules and recommendations stay current.
